✨For those of you who are newer to the River Lodge community- here’s a little tid bit about us. ✨

Meet the Man behind the Madness.
It’s no secret that Mitch’s love for fishing brought him to Unalakleet,but what really drives him to be a lodge owner? Is it the thrill of becoming an amateur contractor, plumber, electrician, restaurant owner, bartender, jet outboard mechanic, and Alaskan bush man?

Mitch simply felt what all others lucky enough to travel into Alaska feel, the thrill of being alive.

As for me (Skyla),I am either hiking, planning a long hike or talking about hiking. As someone who gets giddy about logistics and spreadsheets(someone has to) I’m the gal behind the scenes keeping us organized.

It really is the adventure of a lifetime. We’re working hard and constantly brainstorming ways to improve the guest experience. We’ve got big ideas, future goals, and the right attitude to make it happen.

In the summers our team expands to quite the crew of hard working folks- Guides, house staff,and chefs. But in the off season, it’s just us(with lots of support from family) and our dog Bean.

So, when you send us an email or give us a call, you’ll get one of us. Newsletter- we write that too. All in the hopes of sharing our joy for the River Lodge with all of you.

We’re looking forward to a busy, adventurous and fishy 2024 season with everybody!

Guests can request shore lunch- AKA a big ol’ picnic on the river bank! Guides put on their chef hats and cook up freshly caught fish and hashbrowns over a fire. Add a couple of fresh sides and cookies, and you’ve got yourself a meal.
